Remember that time that your kid removed their disposable diaper and went to town on your heirloom rug? That wasn’t a freak accident. You have a lil tree-hugger for a baby. Your baby is rebelling against the disposable. And the resistance will not stop until you switch to cloth diapers-Lil Helpers to be precise.

The Mayo Clinic says that: “diaper rash is commonly linked to continuously wet or infrequently changed diapers, diarrhea, and using plastic pants to cover diapers.”

To remedy a diaper rash, pediatricians recommend to air-out your child's bum and to keep it dry. Our charcoal fabric keeps your baby feeling complete even after a full night of use. This stay-dry ability makes Lil Helper's Charcoal Cloth Diaper ideal for use during a diaper rash and for preventing further breakouts. Most parents use it as a nap or night-time diaper.

All of these issues surrounding irritant diaper dermatitis (IDD) or diaper rash can be prevented by using our Charcoal Cloth Diaper. Here's how:

Keeps Your Baby Feeling Dry: The charcoal inserts can hold more than 180 ml of liquid and the great part is that your child still feels dry. Keeping your child’s skin dry is the best way to remedy diaper rashes-charcoal's wicking ability lets you do just that.

Lets You Air-Out Your Baby: Most pediatricians suggest that it is best to let your baby go commando or without a diaper to remedy a diaper rash. Our Charcoal Cloth diaper is the next-best-thing to this.

Eliminates the Need for Rash Creams: Rash prevention creams are supposed to create a water barrier to keep your baby’s skin dry. But before application, if your baby's skin is not thoroughly dry, you could worsen the rash by trapping moisture on your child’s bum. You do not need any rash cream while using our charcoal cloth diapers. Our materials will keep your baby dry and well ventilated without subjecting your child's delicate skin to additional chemicals.

    Bye-bye disposable diapers!

I’m new to using cloth diapers and I was really hesitant about it. After reading articles on how bad disposable diapers are for the environment and for the baby (because of the chemicals in it), I have decided to try CD. I’ve read and searched so many articles on different brands of CD, and then I came across lilhelper. Their website is a breath of fresh air from all the websites I’ve visited. Their 3=1 program is a big bonus. It’s also nice that they are here in Toronto. So I called them. I spoke with Mohammed with lots of questions. Excellent customer  service!!! Delivery was fast – the following day.

Here comes the part for the diaper itself:
First impression: the diaper is so well made. Very good quality (compared to a popular brand that is not made offshore. Yes, I purchased a few in different brands.)  The charcoal bamboo is so soft.
After washing it: the inserts almost felt dry. I just line dried them (inside the house). I washed it at night and when I woke up, inserts and cover were dry.
I put it on my 7-mo old baby (breastfed and eating solids) @ 10:40am. She was wide awake @ around 2:30pm. No leaks!!! She was dry!!! No redness!!! (I know it was quite a long time in a cloth diaper.) Cons? I just wish they come in different prints, but that’s okay because I can use the charcoal insert in their other 2 types of diapers. 🙂 Very impressed! Will definitely purchase more. Thank you for making a wonderful product. Now I can use cloth diaper exclusively!

    Is it even wet?

I love this diaper for day time use, the fit is trim and both the shell and inserts are so soft. What I love most about this diaper is that it’s so dry against my baby’s skin. It takes me forever just to figure out if it’s wet or not. I only use 1 insert for daytime and save the other one for the next change. For night time, I use both inserts. I only gave it 4 stars because we have had leaks at night 🙁 I think due to compression. I can’t quite figure out where it’s leaking from but the PUL cover gets soaked after about 8hrs. We’ve used a wool cover over the charcoal diapers at night but in my opinion, this diaper is not ideal for night time use.

More Sucking Power than a Black Hole

If someone had told me a year ago I’d be diapering my baby with bamboo and charcoal I would have laughed. These are so good I almost have to rediaper based on time elapsed from last change because it’s almost impossible to feel when these amazing diapers are actually wet. My 21 pounder (at five months) can do almost anything to these and the inserts. A must have item.

  • How do I wash my diapers?

    1. Make sure any solid "stuff" is already out of the diapers and liners before you throw it in the washer. 2. Pre-wash the diapers (short cycle) in warm water using the recommended brand and amount of detergent. Check here. 3. Heavy Duty (longest cycle) warm/cold wash with proper detergent amount. For those who prefer a more visual explanation, check out our video or snazzy infographic. *When it comes to detergent, we realize not one size fits all. You may need/want something other than Tide due to allergies/sensitivities or other personal reasons, but we want to make sure that whatever you choose to use is cloth diaper safe. We use Fluff Love University's resources as they have compiled their vast knowledge of cloth diaper laundry in one place. They have a great detergent index which shows what IS and IS NOT cloth safe. Happy laundering!

  • How do I dry my diapers?

Short Answer: Line or hang dry the diaper shells and covers when possible, because we love the environment and do want to pay extra electricity bills. Longer Answer: As ecophiles, we would recommend that you line or hang dry our cloth diapers after each wash. But we have families and tight schedules and amazing dryers, too. So if you put our liners in the dryer use the tumble dry setting with medium heat. We recommend that our diapers covers or diaper shells not be put in the dryer, if possible. This is to ensure that the PUL (Polyurethane Laminate) lining which is heat bonded on the inside of the outer layer of our shell (read it again if not clear) is not eroded. The PUL is what makes our diapers waterproof and the less heat it is exposed to the longer it will stay bonded to the fabric. If you absolutely have to put the diaper shells or diaper covers in the dryer do so at a low to medium heat. If you are drying the diapers shells and liners together, remove the diaper shells from the dryer after 10-20 minutes. From our experience, the diaper shells dry out far more quickly as compared to the liners.

  • How Do I Wash my Diapers if I have hard water?

We figure the first question most of you will have is: Do I have hard water? There are a few ways to test this. This video is my personal favourite.

So what is the solutions?  It’s an easy peasy.. Add BORAX or CALGON to your wash.

    1. Once you know your water hardness value take a look at this chart to see what amount of softener is recommended based on your water.
    2. In most cases they will recommend about ½ cup of softener added to the pre and main washes.
    3. Additionally, some powdered detergents have water softeners that help give a better clean in hard water. If your detergent isn’t proving strong enough, upgrading detergents will also help immensely.
    4. ‍ If you have hard water, NEVER EVER do an extra rise! Essentially, you’re adding back all those mineral deposits you just cleared out with your new or increased detergent and water softeners. For detailed information about hard water, cloth diapers, and you, we suggest you head over to Fluff Love University.

"I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while now after using Lil Helper charcoal diapers for almost 3 months. I was introduced to the company by a friend and started out with a good stash of second hand Lil Helpers as well as some other brands. We started using cloth on my baby at 10 days old, and I’ve found myself exclusively reaching for these diapers over the other brands. In fact, the other day I had an outfit that another brand matched better, but when I grabbed it I could instantly tell a difference in the fabric of the shell. These diapers are soft and feel like real fabric. Comparatively, the other brand felt cheap and like plastic. It reminded me I need to write this review! If you are considering cloth diapers, this is an awesome company who makes a solid product that doesn’t disappoint!"

"I started with the trial diaper, and was immediately hooked. I now have over 20 Lil Helper diapers and most of their products. The customer service is amazing, and I love all the little touches that show they truly care about their customers. I love how quickly the charcoal inserts dry, and how soft everything is. The snap system is super easy to use, and I actually just snap the front so everything stays in place during diaper change. I have several other brands in my stash, but I'm always grabbing for my Lil Helpers because they fit so well and are just so darn cute!"
