When Pregnancy Loss Happens. Meet the God Forbid Guarantee.
A note before you read: this post discusses miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss. If you're here because you're living this right now, we're so sorry, and we hope what follows brings even a small measure of relief.
As parents ourselves, pregnancy and infant loss is a subject close to every heart at Lil Helper. In 2016, one conversation with one customer changed how we do business, and led our CEO, Mohammed (known to most of our community as Uncle Mo), to create a policy unlike anything else in the cloth diapering industry: the God Forbid Guarantee.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Is More Common Than Most People Realize
Miscarriage and infant loss carry a quiet weight, heavy, but rarely talked about openly. The numbers tell a story many families already know:
-Between 17–22% of pregnancies end in miscarriage each year
-The World Health Organization has recorded 4.1 million infant deaths (under age 1) globally in a single year
-An estimated 2.6 million stillbirths occur worldwide every year
These aren't just statistics. They're parents who painted nurseries, picked out names, and packed diaper bags for babies they never brought home. If that's your story, your grief is valid, and you deserve support, not silence.
How the God Forbid Guarantee Began
In February 2016, Mohammed was browsing a cloth diaper Buy/Sell/Trade group on Facebook when he came across a post from a longtime Lil Helper customer. She was selling her brand-new, never-used diapers. Her daughter had passed away at birth.
Mohammed read her story and knew Lil Helper needed to respond differently than any policy manual said we had to. Click for the full conversation.

What Is the God Forbid Guarantee?
The God Forbid Guarantee is Lil Helper's promise to fully refund your purchase if you experience the loss of your baby before or during delivery.
No 30-day return window. No "unused and unwashed" requirement. No forms to prove your loss. Just a full refund, when you need it most.
In return, we'll ask one small thing: keep the diapers for a future rainbow baby, or gift them to a friend, family member, or charity of your choosing. It won't undo the loss. But it means something good can still come from it.
Why We Built This, and Why Cloth Diapers Make It Possible
This is one place reusable products have an edge disposables never will: they don't expire, and they never have to be thrown away. A stash of newborn disposables becomes waste. A stash of cloth diapers can become a gift, a keepsake, or a lifeline for another family.
We call this way of doing business Kind Capitalism; the belief that a company can turn a profit and still show up for customers in their hardest moments. The God Forbid Guarantee is one piece of that commitment. Our diaper subsidy program for families in need is another.
How to Use the God Forbid Guarantee
If you need to make a claim, here's exactly what happens:
-Tell our Delight Team what happened; share only what you're comfortable sharing
-We'll process your full refund and talk through what you'd like to do with your diapers
No fine print. No added stress on top of an already devastating time.
Remembering October 15: Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day
Every October 15, families around the world take part in the International Wave of Light, lighting a candle at 7pm local time to remember babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death. If you're looking for ongoing community and support, organizations like the Star Legacy Foundation offer resources year-round, not just in October.
We think about the God Forbid Guarantee every day of the year. But this month is a good reminder of why it exists.
You're Never Just an Order Number to Us
Whether you're building your first cloth diaper stash or you're one of the families this guarantee was built for, we want you to know: at Lil Helper, you're supported before, during, and after your purchase.
